National Pike Inn becomes a happy home in New Market
National Pike Inn, a landmark for over a decade, was sold this month. Thomas and Terry Rimel sold the restored building at 9 W. Main St to Michael and Margaret Morris of Pinehurst North Carolina and their 12 year old daughter Caitlin. The 1796 to 1804 house has a 1830s smokehouse and carriage house and a 1900 widow's watch. The Rimels began refurbishing the property in 1986 after years of neglect and now the new owners move in.

Louie Brosius Dies at 76 Civic Leader and Builder
Louie Jarboe Brosius a Frederick County civic leader developer and builder died Thursday on his 76th birthday after a period of cancer. Born August 27 1922 he was the son of J William and Louise Pearce Davis Brosius. He served in the U S Marine Corps as a crewman in the Central Pacific theater and later co founded a building business with his brother in 1949 in Frederick County.
