Ford, 56, a Democrat with a cigar, seeks Frederick County Commissioner after losses in 1986 and 1990 and a failed 1982 bid for the Maryland House of Delegates. He calls it fire in his belly and says he wants to help the community. He lives in Buckeystown with his wife and three adopted children. He was a county native. Robert Fogle frames his campaign as defending the average middle class white family. A plumber and self described voice for the little guy, he criticizes political mumbo jumbo and says residents are sick of the system. He is a Republican from Bartonsville who graduated from Frederick High School and has spoken to locals about perceived inequities.

Storm disrupts Frederick County power with lightning hits
A late night storm across most of the state left about 1,000 Frederick County residents without power. By 8:30 a.m. all but nine customers had service restored. Lewistown and Hyattstown bore the worst outages, caused mainly by lightning. Two houses near Frederick were struck, but no fires were reported. The storm moved in around 10 p.m. Thursday.
