A Civilian Welfare Council event at Camp Detrick featured a barbecue and pool swimming for civilian personnel on Saturday afternoon. Diving by Miss Bar ara McCutcheon and Donald Stultz entertained guests, with winning relay teams led by Mrs. Norbert Fell, Miss Patricia Stonestreet, and Dorothy Fellenz for women, and Travers Stultz, Donald Stultz, Adolph Abbots, and Dog Lotke for men. A surprise beauty contest named Miss Patricia Fell winner, awarded a nylon hose certificate from Kemp's. A full committee list accompanied the event with multiple divisions and staff teams managing publicity, food, entertainment, tickets, and security.

During World War II he advised the Chemical Warfare Service and served with the Office of Scientific Research and Development, studying tropical spoilage of military stores, vaccines, and disease factors. He and Mrs. Chambers with four children will live in Frederick, at the former Looker place on Braddock Heights trolley line Rt.

A successful dance by the Young People's Republican club drew about 100 couples at Braddock Heights pavilion with Clark Shectenheim and his Orchestra. Republican candidate George Doub spoke during intermission as local politicians attended, while plans for a formal club meeting were announced for Hotel Frederick on Thursday. A submerged valley between England and Europe in the North Sea was also noted.

Four Die In Maryland Auto and Drowning Weekend
Over the weekend Maryland lost four lives in accidents and drownings. Police identified two auto fatalities, Mrs. Thomas C. Gwynn 58 of Clinton and Frank Cantler 75 of Baltimore, with others injured. A two year old, Stephen Linn Boyer, drowned in Elk river, and Arthur Lester 28 of New Orleans was said to have fallen from a pier in Baltimore. The remaining seriously injured were Robert K. Johnson 23 Easton and George H. Higgins 17 Neavitt after a Fairchild PT-19 crash near Easton.
