Eisenhower signs law aimed at conspiracies and Reds
President Eisenhower signed legislation outlawing the Communist party and expanding tools to fight subversion. The measures target conspiracies aiming to overthrow the government, strip citizenship from oath violators, and broaden sabotage definitions and penalties. A Communist spokesman called the law unconstitutional and pledged to seek invalidation. The package also flags future anti Reds actions and expands penalties for espionage.
