Four Jap fighter planes shot down over Eastern New Guinea
Gen MacArthur's headquarters reports four of a group of 13 Japanese fighters were shot down by Allied airmen over Eastern New Guinea. One Allied plane damaged but returned. A Japanese craft was set on fire and probably destroyed near Rabaul as two Japanese planes intercepted an Allied reconnaissance unit. Japanese ground patrols dispersed at Kokoda as invaders press toward Port Moresby. Earlier, three Japanese planes raided Darwin. 47 were beaten off by Allied fighters. Separately, comedian Lois Andrews and Oake old Wudge divorce finalized in Los Angeles after her testimony that he was too old and she too young.
