Detrick Commander Stepping Into Unusual Post
A new commander at Fort Detrick, Col. Charles Churchill, has arrived about a month ago amid dawn drills and sightings in the boiler room and fire department. He emphasizes being a soldier first and a hospital administrator second, noting at 44 he is the youngest Fort Detrick commander and eager to learn on the job. He praises the staff’s work ethic and says he aims to attract more tenants to the research complex, including a move to consolidate medical equipment used in the facility.
