Russia Hunts Uranium Ore in East Germany
British observers say Soviet Russia has intensified its search for uranium in East Germany to a frantic pace. A 300,000 strong labor force, including German citizens and Soviet-backed frontmen, is drafted to mine the ore for atomic weapons, with mines operated around the clock. The Wismuth company, run with NKVD control, orders labor via SED leaders, creating a state within a state that sacrifices East German reconstruction and economy for Russian needs.
