Sunday Morning Altercation Turns Fatal in St Louis Alley
About one o clock Sunday morning in St Louis two young mechanics Nicholas Gerst and Louis Hass fought over a trivial matter in an alley on the east side of Ninth street between Allen avenue and Shenandoah street. Hass stabbed Gerst in the neck, killing him instantly. Hass was arrested. Horace Maginnis, 21, was shot and killed at a social club picnic about midnight Saturday near Schuetzen Park after returning to the bar where he had been refused a drink. A mother aged twelve is reported as the mother of a Chinaman.

Strikers on the Suesez and Rio Grande road attempted to wreck a train on Saturday by placing dynamite on the track. The discovery was made in time to prevent the destruction of the Salt Lake Express.
