Workers in auto, farm equipment and electrical industries gain small raises, while broad purchasing power declined slightly due to price rises, with food leading the surge and housing remaining stable.
Community Builders Inc of Silver Spring was the apparent low bidder on the Capehart housing units at Fort Detrick with a bid of 100,291, under the project estimate, while Kaul Company of McLean, Virginia submitted the second lowest bid at 1,032,000. Major Raymond A. Murray will supervise the project, with construction set to begin within six days.
