Meadows Sold to Yankees Second Frederick Star Joins Majors
Brunswick pitcher Rube Meadows, a left hander from Frederick's Tri City team, was sold to the New York Yankees by Ward Bill Donovan for 3,500. Meadows, praised for his late season form at Mt. St Joseph's, had a turbulent year in the International League but impressed scouts enough for a major league move. He is the second Tri City member to join the majors after Lewis Mafone. Martinsburg beat Gettysburg 2 to 1, Clarke sparking a hit distribution for the Red Batteries.
