Berlin Maryland residents use mail-in coupons to tip police on drugs
Berlin Maryland police shut a crack cocaine operation after anonymous mail-in coupons in a local newspaper prompted tips from residents. In six weeks about 25 to 30 calls referenced drug activity, providing names, plate numbers, and observations while remaining anonymous. Mayor Ron Bireley and Milford Connecticut police influenced the program as a low cost community tool.
