A manuscript dated February 20, 1778 and signed Arthur Carington describes Valley Forge and a foraging episode near Fresh Creek. Virginia Randolph, to whom the author is betrothed, is referenced with a tomb inscription noting a broken heart. The tale is supported by W. W. Potts and Chester Valley Union editor Kaufpan, with the skeleton expected to be moved to Richmond.
