C P and Eastalco crews restored service by 9 a.m. with damages estimated at 5 000 to 10 000. Officials said Patrick Henry Sherrill had been lectured by a supervisor the day before the attack. He bore a bag of ammunition and weapons and died with a 45 caliber pistol as police surrounded the post office. Postal officials in Texas discussed mental stability and security, including metal detectors, as Postmaster General Tisch ordered flags at half staff and Oklahoma Governor Nigh ordered state flags lowered. A crisis center was set up to aid distraught citizens.
