Washington August 21 special police guard was placed on duty at the commerce department after reports a communist group from Baltimore would call on Hugh S Johnson. DOJ agents said the group, largely longshoremen, was en route from the Baltimore wharves to Washington but no group was reported entering. Baltimore police commissioner Gaither said he knew of no such group en route and had alerted Washington authorities.

Auto Skids on Wet Tracks Injuring One in City
Raymond Starr and a clerk from East Patrick street suffered injuries as cars skidded on wet tracks in East South street near South Market.
