Washington's March hundred years ago unearthed a buried underground still site on a farm by Licking Creek. J A Stewart found a 20 by 16 foot foundation with a stone hearth and chimney beneath four feet of soil. Locals over 70 recall no prior structure at the spot. The plant likely operated over a century ago during the whiskey rebellion, linked to authorities who suppressed it. The October centennial of the rebellion will mark the event with Washington and officials marching to Fort Bedford.
