A's Out of Pennant Chase as Dodgers and Giants Lead

Major league pennant races tighten with the Kansas City A's mathematically eliminated after a doubleheader loss to Cleveland ending any hope of a 76 78 finish. The Yankees would need a 36 game collapse by the leaders to pass. Meanwhile Cincinnati Redlegs power surge leads with 221 home runs in the season and top fielding, while Willie Mays heads major leagues with 28 steals and Ted Kluszewski bats 367 against Milwaukee. Cross-division notes include Dodgers and Braves strong fielding and Clem Labine’s relief work for Brooklyn.
