Corn Surplus Risk Shrinks as July Heat Cuts Output

The July drought and heat cut the nation’s corn crop by an estimated 15 percent to 2,824,078,000 bushels, shrinking holdover stocks to about 950,000,000 and signaling the first major shift away from mountain surpluses. Wheat output drops to 977,537,000, but domestic use and near-zero exports keep its surplus problem. Agriculture Department says livestock and related products will set a new year record amid overall surpluses in every category.
