Agnew Campaigns On West Coast
San Francisco AP Spiro T. Agnew, Nixon's pick for vice president, opens his campaign on the West Coast with remarks likening Nixon's discovery of him to Portuguese explorers. He praises Henry the Navigator and Vasco da Gama, and jokes about being discovered by Nixon as a new voter bloc. A later line mentions vast numbers of insect species on earth.
