Steering Committee To Be Named In Rock Creek Plan
At their regular monthly meeting in Beckville on August 7 the Board of Supervisors announced formation of a steering committee to guide the Rock Creek watershed work plan. Members will include representatives from the Board, County Council, Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, and Rock Creek Watershed Association. The panel will select a detention structure near Rock Creek to meet local needs, with funds allocated for county 4-H conservation displays at the Montgomery County Fair. J Fred Hazen reported farm ponds completed on several farms, and surveys for ponds and drainage improvements underway. In baseball, Milwaukee ace Johnny Logan was sidelined by a shin infection, causing Felix Mantilla to start at short in Logan’s absence.
