Point of Rocks A picturesque 19th century Maryland town

Point of Rocks sits at the foot of Catoctin Mountain along the Potomac near the canal. Incorporated in 1848, the town has a rich Civil War history, electric lights, five churches, and a volunteer baseball team. Residents seek revived town government, better roads, street lighting, and renewed civic pride, plus a bridge arrangement with Maryland and Virginia to ease tolls.

Hard Coal Parley Strikes a Snag

Philadelphia Aug 12 Prospects for a quick settlement of the anthracite strike by mine workers and operators were not bright after the opening session. The matter may be sent to President Harding for settlement.
