NBC Turns To Cartoons To Lighten NBC Nightly News
NBC News nurtures a comic corner by Mike Peters and Barns Jones, turning Prince Charles into a frog and Santa Claus aiding air travelers. The project aims to freshen the third rated Nightly News despite Walt Disney being dropped, with Peters producing two to three cartoons weekly as an experimental, potentially defining asset ahead of Tom Brokaw’s upcoming replacement of John Chancellor.

Cartoons Move to TV with Faster Animation
The text notes that cartoons translate easily to television as animation improves storytelling. Peters’ cartoons require at least three days with Bajns-Jones animators before airing. A typical Peters cartoon lasts 20 seconds and uses 480 frames.
