Congress argues over TVA power control in public debate
Senator John Marshall Butler argues TVA is a subsidy funded public power monopoly impacting private electric firms. He notes TVA covers 40,000 square miles, 7,000 miles of transmission lines, and claims Maryland taxpayers subsidize TVA while Tennessee Valley residents alone benefit. He cites Carl Thompson and urges ending the “gallop” toward public ownership.

Strength For Today by Earl L Douglass
The essay argues history shows society as a grind of opposing forces glass against glass. It notes conflicts between rich and poor, overlord and slave, conservative and liberal, and that such clashes produce convictions and policies. It cites Absalom as juvenile delinquent and mentions the trumpeter swan’s weight.

Obesity in adolescence needs sensitive approach
A doctor explains that teen excess weight often stems from emotional factors and eating habits rather than gland disorders. Parents should avoid shaming and focus on understanding motivations, reducing fat intake, and building a realistic plan with medical guidance. Exercise alone cannot erase overeating.
