Frederick County will finish 49 or 50 miles of highway this year with about a million dollars for maintenance and construction. About 31 miles are complete or in progress and nine more miles partly under way. weather may halt further work. Mountville road bids expected by autumn. A hearing on closing a link to old U. Hit And Run Death Charged At Salisbury
Salisbury August 17 Samuel Lloyd Culley 33 charged with manslaughter in the hit and run death of 52 year old Agnes Pauline Davis. Witnesses place Culley at the scene after his car was abandoned. She died after being struck while guiding a dog across the street near her home. Culley also faces failure to stop and aid charges as he remains jailed. The incident involved police reports of a stolen car and three witnesses. A birthday party followed at 556 East Church Street for Betty Louise Wachter turning ten with family and neighbors in attendance.

Grangers Plan Moonlight Boat Ride in August
The Frederick County Pomona youth committee will sponsor a moonlight cruise from Washington aboard the U S Mt Vernon on August 24. Grangers of all ages and their guests are invited with cars leaving Frederick Armory at 6 30 p m CST to reach Washington by boarding time.

Levering Co Cuts its Prices Of Coffee
Levering Coffee Co, a large Baltimore roaster, cut its price by five cents per pound, with the change to reach customers in about two weeks. Other cities report 5 to 10 cent cuts due to currency and New York market effects. Food Fair Stores in Philadelphia lowers three popular coffee brands by 10 cents per pound, affecting 150 stores in PA NY NJ DE MD, with new prices $1.03, $1.05 per package and $1.09 for vacuum packed.
