Cap Bann Cited for Lifesaving Heroism at Sea
Capt Bann, flying from Massachusetts to Baltimore, spotted a canoe with three men clinging to its sides off Connecticut. Despite low fuel, he guided the distress call to shore and directed the coast guard to the scene, helping save the three sailors. The Treasury Department later recommended him for a life-saver’s medal while he serves as an army inspector at Detrick Field.
