Mt Airy Maryland A Thriving Industrial Town
Mt Airy Maryland rises from Parr Ridge high above sea level and became a major inland business center. It hosts Mt Airy Canning Company and Farmers Milling and Grain Company with a 250 barrel daily mill, provides 25 canning season jobs, and ships Boris brand vegetables nationwide. The town rebuilt after a 1903 fire that destroyed over half the town, aided by a Frederick engine and railroad water tanks. It is a key freight point between Brunswick and Baltimore with electric power from Hagerstown Frederick Railway Company and a growing ice and dairy sector.
