Ruritan speaker Byron Grossnickle of the Maryland Grain Producers Association addressed the Johnsville Raritan meeting. He presented a slide show showing Maryland farm percentages decline each year while Robert Grossnickle introduced the guest.
The Francis Scott Key Lions Club hosted Lion Charlie Kearse of Laytonsville to present a program on Vision Screening for Preschool Children. Lions conduct screenings with eyecare professionals. Pictured left to right are Dave Hicks, the new inductee. Bob Miller, past district governor. Barbara Leatherman, club president. and Mr. Kearse.
The Stup descendants gathering at Monocacy Village Park Fredrick Aug 7 drew over 140 attendees including travelers from Minnesota. Jeff Summers gave the invocation while activities followed lunch. New officers Mike Anat Ed Stup Greg Stup were elected. Gifts went to youngest eldest farthest traveler and recent newlyweds. Attendees included Jerry Hanes and Julia Hanes among others.
Montgomery County invites four residents to join a three year term mental health committee. The panel will help develop the local mental health plan and budget, prepare and present a report to state and county officials, and review the annual mental health and substance use services plan. Meetings are first Thursday each month at 7:00 p.m. in Rockville. applicants should send a brief resume to County Executive M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 191 St, Rockville, MD 20650 by September.
