The engagement of Miss Mary Elizabeth Carty daughter of Sir and Mrs Harry E Carty East Second street and Major Frederick Clifford Rogers U S A was announced at a bridge party given by Mrs Carty in her daughter's honor at 230 this afternoon The party was at the Carty residence with friends in attendance The engagement was revealed on small cards at each guest Miss Carty a Frederick High School and Hood College graduate class of 1927 is described as very popular Major Rogers native of Wisconsin son of Col Thomas J Rogers of Oklahoma City was assigned to the First Infantry Maryland National Guard prior to arriving in Frederick a year ago He previously served at Fort Leavenworth and with the Army of Occupation in Germany The wedding is planned for early fall
The funeral of C. A. Brown former engineer of the Brunswick Fire Department was held at 1 p m from the Episcopal church in Brunswick with Rev Burgess officiating. The body was taken to Winchester for interment. He died at 23 after a week in bed from typhoid fever. Dr E C Keteuver, county health officer, visited Brunswick Tuesday amid typhoid concerns.
