Breathalyzer challenged in Maryland court case
In a magistrate’s court hearing for Herman Snowden near Frederick, Baltimore attorney H. Carl Butler questioned the Breathalyzer as permissible evidence, arguing lack of state sanction. Judge Byron W. Thompson overruled, with Snowden charged for driving under the influence and reckless driving after a July incident on East Patrick Street. state trooper Robert Snyder reported a blood alcohol level just over 0.33 percent. Steelworker Surrenders After High-Speed Pursuit in Ohio
Thomas Merical a 30 year old steelworker from Brighton Township Pennsylvania surrendered to authorities in East Liverpool Ohio after a nationwide manhunt. Police said he fled during a confrontation at his Beaver Pennsylvania home last Wednesday when bullets were fired. A bartender and family friend, Jack Haddox of Chester West Virginia, brought Merical to police where Beaver County officers took him into custody.
