Weird Al Tackles TV Satire in UHF Debut
Film review notes Weird Al Yankovic's first movie UHF spoofs TV and film on Channel 62. George Newman, played by Yankovic, reshapes the lineup with parodies like Leave It to Bigfoot and Bowling for Burgers while Geraldo Rivera is singled out for satire. Strong cameos include Michael Richards and Kevin McCarthy as rival owner schemes to ruin the new success. The plot ties the network’s rise to a kiddie show hosted by Stanley Spadowski, whose popularity challenges the dominant station.
