Western Maryland counties forecast partly sunny Saturday with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Sunday expects variable clouds and near 90 degrees with a 10 mph south wind. Mountain region highs in the low to mid 80s Saturday, cooler Sunday around 60s. Extended outlook shows hot lows in 60s to 70s and a chance of thunderstorms midweek. Yesterday temperatures varied from Cumberland 88 to Westminster 82.
A Florida based Air Force UH-60 helicopter en route from Pope Air Force Base to Andrews Maryland crashed four miles north of Pope AFB in Fayetteville North Carolina. All four crew members were killed and no mission details were released. Investigators from Eglin's 55th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron formed a board to probe the incident.
Frederick Aviation Inc seeks a circuit court ruling on its exclusive use of 23.5 acres at Frederick Municipal Airport and to bar other fixed base operators from mobile fuel trucks on leased land. The suit, naming International Aviation, asks the court to interpret the March 20 1986 rules and affirm pre existing leases.
Montgomery Bureau reports a $1000 reward for information on an attempted rape near the White Flint Metro Station on August 6.
