Frederick boy dies from truck collision injuries
A six year old Frederick boy, Michael Wayne Jones, died at University Hospital Baltimore at 10:47 a.m. from head injuries after running into a pickup truck on East Street near East Third Street last Thursday. Police said investigation and possible charges against driver Gerald M. Carpenter, 32, will be reviewed with the state's attorney. the fatality is Frederick’s first pedestrian death since 1956. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Frederick County Board of Election Supervisors report strong turnout with 28 new registrations this morning at Winchester Hall and expectations of more this afternoon. About 350 voters registered last week, largely on Thursday and Friday, with new residents driving the surge. Four Frederick County inmates recaptured after jail escape

Mrs. Eula Lamp, 53, of Martinsburg West Virginia, hailed a Martinsburg cab and asked to go somewhere in Maryland. She directed the driver to stop on a Potomac River bridge and leaped off. Her body was recovered in four feet of water about 180 feet below the bridge.
