Cubans Seize Moaday Mining Co. in Cuba
The Cuban government announced it had seized control of the Moaday Mining Co. an American owned nickel and cobalt mine in eastern Cuba. President Dorticos announced the move on TV as militiamen had already occupied the plant. The seizure follows the creation of a National Mining Institute and raises fears for about 75 million dollars in other American mining properties including Nicaro. US GSA and Castro regime talks reportedly discussed transfer. The mine had halted operations last March under a new government mining law.
