Power center battle heats Frederick retail scene
CoMart of Atlanta moves to buy 45 acres off Md 355 across from Francis Scott Key Mall to construct a 400000 square foot power center with value oriented tenants. Manekin had pursued a 43 acre site next to Wal Mart but talks stalled over price and rezoning. If rezoning succeeds, the race to attract tenants including Home Depot could begin with construction hoped for by January 1997. The plan includes MARC rail access and multiple road improvements.
