Land use survey figures revised for Frederick County
Frederick County plans commission reviews acreage totals for woodlands pasture and crop use. Estimates show 108,178 acres previously, with 11,061 added to federal woodland and park systems leaving 97,177 acres near state survey figures. Soil conservation figures indicate 190,796 acres in crops, near the state tally of 206,936. Swartz notes 588,829 acres in pasture across six classes, slightly below state estimates but not significant enough to alter the survey. A subcommittee will refine future estimates into 1945. Meanwhile, Marlene Dietrich was mobbed by fans in Buenos Aires and rescued by police after a near crush at her arrival.
