Last Pennsy Passenger Run To Frederick Ends
The Pennsy Railroad’s Frederick passenger service concluded after years of limited use. The final trip departed Taneytown at 11:59 PM with most riders women and children. Operations shift to a star-route express hauled by a truck, serving Keymar to Frederick and York, with stops along the way and future ties to local commerce. The event recalls early 1870s beginnings and prior routes to Lancaster and Littlestown, as the line’s history traces to the Frederick and Pennsylvania Line Railroad and Northern Central connections.
