City considers partial sinking fund refinance next year
Frederick officials weigh liquidating part of the 1923 sinking fund bond issue to slash interest costs. With about 30,000 on hand and current yields, the city could refund roughly half the issue via U.S. Treasuries and local bonds, potentially lowering interest from 4.5 percent to 2.5–2.75 percent. Auditors report 1941 net sinking fund securities at 25,750 and cash at 4,230.18 with extra accrued interest on uncollected coupons.
