Violence in Meat Strike Hs Chicago Riot Injures Six
In Chicago on August 13 a violent meat strike riot erupted near city hall as missiles rained from office buildings and trains carrying strike breakers were attacked. About six men were wounded in various clashes and President Golden of the Teamsters Union was assaulted while aiding Max Falk, a union driver, who was beset by a mob of about four hundred pursuing him for his union affiliation. Golden took the wagon reins to retreat, suffering injuries as stones and sticks struck him and Falk.
