Eternal Word Network Brings Faith Based TV to Irondale Alabama
In Irondale Alabama the Eternal Word Network a new religious broadcasting venture built by a dozen Roman Catholic nuns from a Franciscan monastery near Birmingham plans to launch this month. It has little cash but substantial faith with a $2 million wealth in TV assets a $350000 antenna and a $700000 mobile van. Mother Angelica leads the effort saying the network will focus on spiritual social programming addressing ordinary people including the plumber with nine kids. The project operates from a monastery behind the chapel with about 24 staff and four hours of satellite time daily and it will offer free programming to cable outlets despite high costs. The sisters aim to rely on divine provision rather than profits.
