Republican candidate Richmond Keeney urged Montgomery County to create a zoning defender, a grievance commissioner to protect landowners when rezoning is challenged. He argued the office, inspired by Sweden in 1899, would reduce costs for residents and simplify defense of established zoning. Keeney spoke before the Rockville Jaycees as part of his GOP council bid.

Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientists commanded the maneuver which slowed the craft about 130000 miles from Earth and preliminary data show the mid course correction was perfect.
