Clayton O Keedy died suddenly at his home in city shocking his many friends here. The death came as a surprise to residents and mourners gathered after the news spread through the community. Keedy was well known and respected in local circles.
A newly formed Community Discount Company in Frederick plans a Wednesday dinner at 6 45 PM at the Francis Scott Key Hotel to establish a permanent organization and outline operating plans. The citizens committee includes Glenn O Garber Dr J A Long E D McCain and others.
The Gertrude Rask Danish supply ship reached Angmagsalik on Greenland’s east coast bringing news that the American round the world aviators will resume their flight on Thursday if weather allows. Major Drumline reported the harbor was ice free and conditions improved after the ship broke through the ice. Lieutenant Smith commander and Lieutenant Nelson will depart Iceland on the next leg of the journey pending weather.
Judge Cardoza refused Wilvem H. Anderson a certificate of reasonable doubt, denying his bail pending appeal. Anderson, former superintendent of the New York Antisaloon League, is serving a term for forgery in the third degree at Sing Sing. The application, argued July 28 by Charles S. Whitman, was denied, upholding the conviction.
Eastport Maine August 12 The air fleet Boston is today started for the 260 mile voyage to Pictou Nova Scotia as part of army world tours.
Police scoured West Baltimore for three men tied to Charles Miller alias Ashler, leader of the Zang gang. Miller, arrested in Rockville, prompted a wide manhunt across Montgomery County with 15 home burglaries in Chevy Chase, loot about 315,009 recovered, and new arrests expected as the search widens through several states.

Katie Smith bobbed hair and talkative appeared Monday night as the defendant on a charge of disturbing the peace. She fought with Mrs Thelma Schrorer at Schrorer's home on Beni Street and was jailed in the custody of Sheriff Albaugh with a ten dollar fine. Schrorer testified Smith refused to leave and scratched her, even throwing a clock. The judge asked where she got the stuff from and Smith replied from their house. Schrorer noted no intoxicants were in the house Monday. The Smith woman, intoxicated, claimed Schrorer went to his wine cellar and stored stock. the testimony described a volatile scene. A corner case also noted Michael O’Brien fined for being drunk on the street. Piggy Shaw and William Chew paid fines for being drunk on the streets.

Two Mississippi nurses visiting Denham Springs were arrested for wearing knickers under Livingston Parish’s new law banning trousers for women and other acts. They pled not guilty but paid fines of 35 dollars each before a justice of the peace. The official stated the parish law is supreme and to be respected.
Chicago Aug 12 The state pressed its cross examination of Dr Ht F Hulbert last of the defense alienists in the Franks hearing with plans to admit Dr R T Woodyatt an endocrinology expert The prosecutor attacked the endocrine disorder theory linking it to the mental sickness of Leopold Jr and Loch who abducted Rebert Franks Hulbert testified that endocrine disease does not define a failure in life and noted no recognized leader in American endocrinology The defense expects about 45 minutes more of witnesses after Hulbert with the pace of testing depending on Crowe's length of cross examination
London August 12 British government dispatches a battalion to reinforce the Sudan garrison after clashes between Egyptian and British troops at Atbara. Egyptian soldiers attacked bricks at barracks and cadets who refused arms sparked arrests. The Egyptian railway battalion demonstrated and attempted escape. British fire on attackers produced 19 casualties.
Kansas City report says United States Senator James A. Reed of Missouri will support the Democratic ticket. He spoke after reading John W. Davis’s acceptance address and denying rumors he might oppose the ticket.
In New York on August 12 heavy liquidation of oil shares pushed Atlantic Refining down 2.74 points and many others 1 to 1 1/4, with profit taking hitting the list. American Water Works surged earlier while Atchison Erie and Lackawanna slipped. Call money opened at 2 percent and total sales neared 1,150,000 shares. The Pike's Peak highway station claims the highest telephone station in the United States at 14,116 feet.
Democratic presidential candidate John W. Davis prepared to begin an intensive campaign drive with a speech in Columbus Ohio on August 26. He reported the campaign issues shown in his acceptance speech including honesty in government and opposition to corruption. He pledged support for the World Court and religious liberty, and noted plans to visit Washington and New York for further talks with party leaders.
Washington August 12 Organizar tion of women in all sections of the country in the interest of the La Follette Wheeler ticket was undertaken at a conference here today attended by a score of women active in the movement. It was planned to form a committee of women with at least 700 members to aid in winning support for the independent ticket. Regional state and county committees of women will also be appointed. Participants included Mrs W Thompson Barch and Mrs F E Luzer of Maryland and Mrs Macy E Meredith of Virginia.
Funeral services are planned for Joseph Englar aged 73 of Linwood Carroll county after his death Sunday in Frederick Hospital He was a former grain merchant who retired due to ill health spending winters in Miami and summers in Linwood Survived by three brothers Jesse Englar D Fred Englar and John A Englar and two sisters Mrs R Lee Myers and Mrs Hi FP Harrison
