Baseball Careers and the Business Prospects for Players
Baseball expansion makes the sport a business career path for youths with leagues growing yearly. A typical player can earn $50 a week or more, but the long-term gain from business office work at $15 weekly appeals to many. The fall retirement of Hans Wagner marks the end of a two-decade goal, yet average careers run under ten years. Easy money tempts pricey habits. many end with no capital or trade after quitting. Parents doubt sending sons into baseball after school, though brains and discipline help capable players. With time, smart players can, by thirty, start favorable trades if they study business during winters.

Injunction Sought Over Hay Scales Fronting Frederick Building
William H. Kreh, owner of extensive West All Saints street frontage, obtained a temporary injunction from Judge Worthington to halt construction of hay scales blocking his lots. The petition argues the 20 by 25 foot shelter and 4 by 4 foot box would deprive him of access and reduce property value, while asserting the city has no public necessity for the scales. City officials offered no immediate position, noting prior scales on Counsel Street weighed county produce for years.
