A party of 124 Tadis from an unnamed town paddled to a river bank bathing spot on the farm of J All Motley. Gunshots rang out as George Ferguson aged 17 was shot in the back and died. Motley confessed to firing at the group but claimed no intent to injure. The lad later turned out to be Morley’s nephew.
