Montgomerie Battles Trees on Sahalee Final Hole

Colin Montgomerie faced a punishing finish at Sahalee Country Club as trees straddled the 18th green area. He shanked a cedar into heavy rough, then ricocheted a second shot before a third ball stopped 15 feet out amid applause and a sigh from the player. Masters and British Open champion Mark O'Meara eyes a third major in a year, while Davis Love III seeks back-to-back PGA crowns. Sahalee, a par 70 at 6906 yards, tests driving accuracy with narrow fairways and two reachable par 5s, making birdie chances plentiful yet treacherous.
