Middletown Town Increases Trash Hauler Payment And More
Middletown commissioners voted to raise payments to American Disposal Systems by 28 cents per weekly household and 36 cents per household for twice weekly service, raising weekly rates from 3.00 to 3.28 and 3.35 to 3.71 respectively. They also considered a 55 to 40 mph transition segment on Md 17, with a note to seek state approval, and planned two new stop signs at Linden and Lombardy streets. The board offered a $5,000 grant, not a $50,000 loan, to the Central Maryland Heritage League for the Lamar House, citing incomplete matching funds. An open house for the new town offices and community center is set for Sept 11 from 3 to 7 pm. Water and sewer rates were raised 7 percent, base 18 dollars for 3,000 gallons, with excess charges rising from 2.50 to 2.75 per extra 1,000 gallons.
