Montgomery College Defends Affirmative Action Progress
Montgomery College officials cited statistics they say show significant progress boosting minority and women representation among faculty and administrators. President Robert E. Parilla and board chair Michael W. Gilden stressed commitment to diversity amid nationwide debate on affirmative action, noting past shortages and current open atmosphere, while signaling ongoing internal efforts and community mentoring programs. A separate Gaithersburg case reports a 43-year-old man charged with fondling a 17-year-old at a graduation dinner, with investigation continuing.
