Town Hikes Water Rates In Middletown Plan
Middletown commissioners propose tiered water charges increasing from 36 dollars for up to 5 000 gallons to 271 for 50 000 gallons. Public hearings set for September 13 and a September 2 workshop with residents invited to attend. They cite costs to operate sewer and water plants and aim to run the water department like a business. The board also discussed meter replacements and a remote reading system to curb billing errors and advised residents on reducing use. A three way stop sign at Cone Branch Drive and Grey Fox Court was rejected after safety concerns.
