University for Peace to open in Costa Rica next year
The UN backed project funded by governments and private donors will offer graduate courses on war causes and conflict resolution. Costa Rica provides the campus El Rodeo estate and a 15 mile road, with an 11 member commission led by Rafael Caldera. Funds of about 14 million over three years are sought, aided by a 10 cent per barrel oil tax from eight nations to generate roughly 5.5 million yearly.
