Bridge Toll Discussion Prompts Joint Purchase Talk

A county committee in Frederick hears residents' objections to tolls on the Potomac Bridge at Port of Rocks. Officials decide not to advance detailed plans as citizen petitions for state and county takeover are absent. The bridge, a seven span iron structure about 450 yards long, is largely owned by Frederick Joulana’s joint stock company. The public control proposal is pitched as beneficial to Frederick and Loudoun counties, with local pledges to fund the move and calls to pursue the matter prudently.
