Rocky Gap Music Festival draws tens of thousands in Maryland
The Rocky Gap Music Festival in Western Maryland attracted about 45,000 attendees over four days ending Sunday. Major acts included Merle Haggard, Wynonna Judd, Tammy Wynette, and Billy Ray Cyrus. The event boosted the local economy by about $4.23 million in 1992, with most visitors from outside Garrett Allegany and Washington counties. Families flocked to Rocky Gap State Park for outdoor activities, line dancing, crafts, and food. The Herring couple from Stuart Florida attended for the fifth time, praising the friendships formed year after year.
