Homewood names chief for Alzheimer's program
Jennie J. Ludwig is named program service coordinator for the Alzheimer and related dementias program at Homewood Retirement Center in Frederick. She started as an activity assistant in 1992 and will lead program development with Roberta Shue and Dr Edward Feher guiding planning, training, and operation of the unit. Homewood, occupying the former Francis Scott Key Hotel, provides assisted living and nursing care to 160 residents.

Auction ends rapid at Ag Expo 4-H Market Animal Sale
At the Washington County Agricultural Expo auction, bidders quickly snapped up 4-H animal lots. Molly McGuirk’s grand champion Hampshire lamb sold for 375 a pound to Holsinger Meat Markets. her 125 pound lamb also drew 250 a pound. Various other champions and reserve winners, including Black Angus steers, hogs, an Alpine goat, a dairy steer, and meat pen rabbits, sold to buyers such as Holsinger Meat Markets, Tortuga Restaurant, Hoffman Trucking, AC&T, Countryside Photography, and Willard Agriservice, with prices ranging from about 2 to 375 per pound.

Remsbergs Hold Family Reunion in Middletown Park
The annual Remsberg reunion gathered descendants of Albert S and Clara Routzahn Remsberg on July 25 at Middletown Park with Elizabeth Remsberg as hostess. The family Bible and a photostat of Johann Georg Remensperger writings were displayed. baby Pert Richard Derrenbacher was eight weeks old and the senior member was R Elizabeth Remsberg. Attendees hailed from Pennsylvania, Illinois, Texas, and Maryland, including Jack and Marcia Remsberg and multiple relatives with varied surnames.

Members of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association attended a Woodsboro convention. A joint memorial service preceded a business meeting. Sherry Roper announced County and State Fire Prevention Queens, with officers elected including Ruth Martin president and Betty Martin junior vice president.
